The workshop “Game Changer Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Water Electrolysers” comes from an initiative of the FCH JU Neptune and Pretzel projects to discuss next generation polymer electrolyte membrane electrolyzers. The “Game Changer” aims to identify a major step improvement for water electrolysis looking to novel solutions mainly developed at intermediate Technological Readiness Levels to significantly increase performances of the electrolyzers.
The scope is to contribute to enhancing the flexibility of operation of PEM electrolysis and reducing the hydrogen cost. Specific innovation aspects regard PEM electrolysis operation at larger current densities, higher temperature, and pressure compared to the state-of-the-art.
The workshop will cover specific discussions about material development, degradation effects, stack, and system development. A link to demonstration activities and national plans for developing advanced green hydrogen production technologies is also included.
The workshop will be held online on 17 June 2021 from 9:00 to 17:30 (CEST). The workshop will start with a keynote lecture by the FCH JU officers that will present the state-of-the-art of FCH JU projects in the field of electrolysis. It will include, upon invitation, presentations from various FCH 2 JU, H2020, and bilateral projects as well as specific interventions from international experts on specific topics such as electrocatalysts, membranes, MEAs, PTLs, stacks, and systems. The workshop is expected to be a highly interactive sharing experiences from projects involving advanced PEM electrolysis technology and other forefront research activities in this field.
Please, be aware that the number of attendees is limited to 80 persons to allow interaction and discussion between the participants.
